A Star Trek: Voyager Short Story
By Adrian Hilton
This story is set early in Series 7, after the events of Unimatrix Zero. Paramount would doubtless be horrified at what I'm doing to their characters, so please don't tell them. It would be a terrible shame if their lawyers were to suffer a fatal apoplectic attack while reading this. After all, my pet 'gators prefer their food still wriggling...
Dedicated to beta-reader supreme, Jie. Her encouragement, occasional abuse and steel toe-caps are the only reasons that this fic got kicked out of the dark corners of my hard disk into the bright lights of public exposure. As ever, all flaws are mine unaided. [Except the Flamingo Pink Delta Flyer, which she insisted on. Go figure.]
For canon references, check out "Good Shepherd" (Series 6). I was rather taken with it for a number of reasons, both Trek and personal. It left me wondering "and then what happened?" Where did Celes end up? Is she still having confidence crises? Is Mort Harren's head still stuck up his arse? How did the experience affect Janeway? Hey ho, up came this story.
Other canon references come from "Equinox" parts 1 and 2 (end of series 5 / start of series 6). Check this out too for the sparks between Janeway and Chakotay. But not sparks of passion...
No copyright infringement of Paramount's Star Trek: Voyager series is intended; this story is in appreciation of the universe that Star Trek has opened up to the world for the past 30 years.
